Pacific Northwest startups well-represented in new Andreessen Horowitz top 100 marketplace list

Six Pacific Northwest startups made Silicon Valley venture capital titan Andreessen Horowitz’s new ranking of the 100 top consumer marketplaces. 

The highest ranked Pacific Northwest startup on the new Marketplace 100 list is Valve, the Bellevue-Wash.-based company behind the Steam gaming marketplace, at No. 5. Also making the list are Rover (No. 7), Vacasa (No. 9), Varsity Tutors (No. 27), Avvo (No. 55) and OfferUp (No. 58). The top startup on Andreessen Horowitz’s list was Airbnb, the home-sharing giant that has become a top IPO candidate this year. Airbnb first established an engineering outpost in Seattle in 2016, and last month it expanded the office.
